These policies protect each student’s reserved weekly time and help keep lessons consistent, focused, and fair for every family. Please read them before enrolling.
Enrollment & Weekly Lesson Time
New students may begin with a 30-minute placement lesson or request a weekly lesson time directly.
A weekly time request places a temporary hold on the selected time while I review the request and monthly tuition enrollment is completed. The time is confirmed only after payment has been completed and the booking has been approved.
The $60 placement lesson fee is credited toward the student’s first tuition payment when the student enrolls.
First Month & Monthly Tuition
A new student’s first tuition payment is prorated according to the scheduled lessons remaining in the student’s first calendar month, including months shortened by an Academy break. The initial charge will never exceed the regular monthly tuition.
The $60 placement lesson credit is applied to this first payment. If the credit is greater than the initial prorated amount, the remaining balance is applied to the next tuition payment.
Beginning the following month, tuition is billed automatically at the regular fixed monthly rate. Monthly tuition reserves the student’s fixed weekly lesson time and does not represent a specific number of lessons in each calendar month.
- Some months may include three lessons, most will include four, and some may include five.
- Tuition is not increased during five-lesson months.
- Tuition is not reduced during published Academy holidays or scheduled breaks.
Monthly tuition also includes lesson materials and a clear practice plan following each lesson.
Studio Calendar
Enrollment is open year-round, subject to availability. Lessons follow the published revertMusic Academy Studio Calendar.
Published Academy closures and breaks are announced in advance, are built into the fixed monthly tuition structure, and are not considered teacher cancellations.
Payments
Tuition is charged automatically through Stripe. Student absences do not reduce tuition because the weekly time has been reserved for that student.
- If a payment fails, Stripe may retry the payment automatically.
- If tuition remains unpaid for 7 days, lessons may pause until the account is current.
- A time slot may be released if the account remains unpaid for 30 days.
Ending Lessons
Enrollment continues month to month. To discontinue lessons, send written notice by email at least 30 days in advance.
The final billing period completes as scheduled and is not prorated or refunded. Returning students are welcome back subject to availability.
Any special promotional or founding rate is connected to continuous enrollment and may not be available after lessons are discontinued.
Summer Travel & Scheduling
The Academy remains open year-round except for the closures listed on the Studio Calendar. Students who travel during June, July, or August may maintain continuous enrollment, their reserved weekly time, and their current tuition rate by continuing monthly tuition and choosing an approved summer option:
- Regular weekly lessons: Continue with the normal schedule and use the standard recorded video lesson or makeup options when needed.
- Summer intensive scheduling: With at least 30 days’ notice and subject to availability, private lessons affected by a summer trip may be scheduled before and/or after the travel dates in a more concentrated format. All rearranged sessions must be completed within the agreed scheduling period and cannot be rescheduled a second time.
- Eligible summer program: When offered, one month of regular tuition may be applied toward an Academy Summer Camp, Music Lab, recording project, or other eligible summer intensive in place of that month’s regular private lessons. The family pays any remaining program balance. View Summer Programs.
Summer arrangements require advance written approval and do not create additional lessons, refunds, or tuition credits. If a student discontinues tuition for the summer, the regular 30-day notice policy applies, the weekly time is released, and later re-enrollment is subject to availability and the tuition rates then in effect.
Student Cancellations
With at least 48 hours’ notice, the student may choose one of the following:
- A recorded video lesson prepared during the student’s reserved lesson time; or
- A live makeup lesson, subject to availability and the limits below.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, missed lessons, and no-shows are not eligible for a makeup, credit, or refund.
Recorded Video Lessons
Before the scheduled lesson time, the student may send a short practice video, recording, score, question, or other current material.
I will use the student’s reserved time to prepare recorded feedback, demonstrations, and an updated practice plan. The video will be shared privately through Google Drive and attached to that lesson’s Google Calendar event.
- A recorded video lesson counts as the scheduled lesson and does not create an additional makeup.
- If no material is submitted, I may prepare the lesson based on the student’s current assignments and goals.
Live Makeup Lessons
Students may use one live makeup in any rolling four-month period.
- The makeup must take place within 30 days of the missed lesson.
- Available times are not guaranteed and depend on the teaching schedule.
- Makeups cannot be carried over, exchanged for credit, or added to the end of enrollment.
- A makeup lesson cannot be rescheduled a second time. A missed makeup is forfeited.
If I Cancel a Lesson
If I cancel a lesson outside the published Academy calendar, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited toward a future tuition payment if no suitable time is available.
Teacher cancellations never count against the student’s live makeup limit.
Late Arrival
Lessons end at the regularly scheduled time, even when a student joins late. A student who has not joined or contacted me within 15 minutes of the start time is considered absent.
Technical Problems
Students should test their internet connection, camera, microphone, Zoom settings, and instrument setup before each lesson.
- Technical problems on the student’s side do not automatically qualify for a makeup. When possible, the lesson may continue by phone, audio only, or recorded video exchange.
- If a lesson cannot take place because of a technical problem on my side, it will be rescheduled or credited.
Students Under 18 & Privacy
For students under 18, a parent or guardian completes enrollment and serves as the main contact for scheduling, billing, and progress.
- For students under 13, a parent or guardian should be at home and reachable during the lesson.
- Educational recordings and lesson materials are shared privately through Google Drive, Google Calendar, Zoom, or another agreed private method.
- Student recordings will not be posted publicly or used for promotion without separate written permission.
Acceptance & Policy Updates
Booking or requesting a lesson and checking the policy acknowledgment confirms that the student or parent has read and accepted these policies.
If these policies change, enrolled families will receive the revised version before the changes take effect.
